Who's Bee Boxes are pictured here?

They drove over 200 miles to situate these bee hives to capitalize on the goldenrod!
Here is a field of goldenrod - the field has been fallow for several years!

It is so nice to see other people inspired to work with nature, produce good honey, and learn new things such as beekeeping.  Both men could just as well be watching T.V. in their downtime but chose instead to start beekeeping.  Admirable...

Ommegang Brewery

I have not commented on this issue
"Fracking, short for "hydraulic fracturing," is a process for extracting natural gas from shale rock by pumping millions of gallons of pressurized water, sand and proprietary chemicals down a well...linked to earthquakes, sick people and livestock, poisoned water. "
I read arguments on both sides of the issue and have not sided with one nor the other.
My life is modeled in adoration and reverence for nature.  So let me say this:
I understand the need for national security as it involves energy, and the comfort it provides.  We have ways to reduce and innovate energy utilization from all sources - coal, wood, gas, oil electric.  Landowners  have rights - eminent domain surpasses those rights - our choices are  regulated to protect neighbor's rights ie. noise ordinances, zoning laws etc.   the common good prevails.  Until there are no NEGATIVE impacts to people near gas drilling - we should not do it.
Many small farmers LIKE ME have their lives built into their farms.
Everything we do has impact.  What will our footprints leave for future generations?

Ambrosia Farms Italian Farmhouse Meals

The rewards of hard and continual farm work are the priceless meals easily prepared from the harvest bounty. Ask anyone who visits our farm what they give - labor of love - and what they receive - great food and fun! We always hear, "that was the best meal, or the hottest shower, or the most quiet sleep!" We're pretty sure it stems from the simple rewards of fresh air and hard work! Take it from the contadini - they sure know how to live!

Agritourism

I had first heard of "agritourism" on our visit to Tuscany in 1994, where signs were posted along country roads - "agritourismo" - this indicated a farmer with overnight lodging, a cheaper alternative to hotels and a notch or two above hostels. Accomodations vary depending upon the farm. This is a great way to give farmers alternative income. Everyone knows how difficult it is for small farmers to make a decent income for all the time involved, not many people go into farming for the money!

Agritourism underlies the values of stewardship to the land and the support of small farmers who care for the land sustainably.

I am very excited at the prospect of sharing this beautiful land and getting more people interested in buying small farms to preserve the open space and the old style of life - designed perfectly for outdoor guys and gals and FDFD!
